Men’s T-shirt Upcycle Into Tank & Matching Braided Bracelet

This was one of the first t-shirt upcycles I ever did.  My hubby found this shirt men’s 3XL t-shirt for me on the clearance rack at Target for $3 a couple years ago.  I was at my heaviest, 180 lbs. and my skin sensitivity was at it’s worst.  I needed soft shirts with seams that didn’t irritate.  It was too big, but I love the Toy Story aliens.

The ties are made out of pieces of the t-shirt.  I had originally put a ribbon in there for the ties, but I feel like such a little kid with a big bow.  Kinda funny considering this is Toy Story shirt, but big bows are where I draw the line.

I added a band along the bottom and sewed the seams on the top bands and the bottom band wrong sides together to add some interest and preserve as much of the image as possible.

I had already cut the shirt once to make a different kind of upcycle, but I didn’t like it and that upcycle had a v-neck that came almost all the way to the image.  I also made the braided bracelet.  After I wore the bracelet for awhile, I realized it was a little too tight.  I decided it made a better headband.

I am not a fan of selfies, which is why I normally have my kids take my picture. Practice makes progress.
